On September 25-26, the III Interregional Conference of Rectors of Universities of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Uzbekistan was held. SUAI delegation became participants of the panel session within the framework of the Conference
One of the topics of discussion at the panel sessions of the Conference was the experience of creating advanced engineering schools. As it was noted by the moderators, the quality of training of engineers today is one of the key topics for both states.
Valery Matyash, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, told about the SUAI experience and the Engineering School 2.0 strategic project:
– As part of the strategic project, a number of new scientific laboratories have been opened in SUAI, each of which works in cooperation with one or more industrial partners. Thus, the Engineering Garage, a division of the SUAI Engineering School, allows future engineers to receive the support of experienced mentors and the opportunity to use the latest equipment. The university also has educational factories opened jointly with large companies. Thanks to this, technological entrepreneurship is developing at the university, various partnership models are being implemented.
The final part of the first day of the III Interregional Conference of Rectors of Universities of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Uzbekistan was dedicated to the signing of agreements between Russian and Uzbek universities. St. Petersburg State University of Aerospace Instrumentation and National University of Uzbekistan named after Mirzo Ulugbek signed a memorandum of understanding. In the future, universities will discuss such types of cooperation as the holding of summer and winter schools, the development of joint educational programs, the exchange of teaching staff and students, and cooperation in scientific projects.
