Students and staff of the St. Petersburg State University of Aerospace Instrumentation demonstrated their knowledge and skills in the field of digital twins of production and virtual commissioning of a robotic cell and took first place in the International Online Competition on Promising Technologies and Skills BRICS Future Skills & Tech Challenge 2024 in the Digital Production Competence
The championship was held remotely at the New Production Technologies Laboratory of the SUAI Engineering School. The International Online Competition on Promising Technologies and Skills BRICS Future Skills & Tech Challenge 2024 is the largest professional skills competition in Russia and the BRICS countries among students of the Russian Federation and other countries. It is aimed at developing promising skills and technologies of high-tech industries of the BRICS+ countries. The organizers of the Digital Production Competence Competition in Russia are the Agency for the Development of Professions and Skills, the Institute of Innovative Technologies in Business (IITB) and the Creonomika Cluster of High-tech Technologies and Engineering of the Northwestern Federal District of the Russian Federation.
The Competition is a unique opportunity for participants to demonstrate their skills, knowledge and abilities in the field of digital production through solving competitive tasks related to the engineering of new high–tech production, modeling and programming of industrial robots and automated systems.
The creation of a digital twin was carried out using the Rational Production software. The participants of the Competition have developed digital counterparts of a robotic production cell and programmed the production and technological processes implemented by the cell in a Rational Production environment. The teams carried out the commissioning of the cell, presented the prospects for the development of projects, possible expansion of functionality, and integration methods.
48 contestants from universities from 7 countries of the world (BRICS+ and EAEU) took part in the Competition. The Russian national team was represented by SUAI, GASU, MTUCI, Samara State University. Queen. The national teams of China, Mexico, Ghana, Kazakhstan, Peru, and Belarus also were among the participants.
SUAI team participated in tInternational Online Competition on Promising Technologies and Skills BRICS Future Skills & Tech Challenge 2024 in the Digital Production Competence in five competitions: the all-Russian competition, international competition in the "best of the country" format among foreign and Russian contestants, the EAEU member states competition, the BRICS member states competition and the absolute standings. SUAI team won the gold medal in all competitions.
– We did not just win, we proved that Russian students and, in particular, SUAI students in the field of digital production are among the best in the world! This is the result of hard work, continuous self-improvement and teamwork. We are proud that we were able to demonstrate the highest level of professionalism and creativity by solving complex tasks in the field of digital twins and virtual commissioning of robotic complexes. This victory is not just a personal success of the New Production Technologies Laboratory of SUAI, but a significant step forward for the entire domestic industry. We see huge potential in digital technologies for industrial development, and our victory is proof that Russia is ready for breakthrough solutions in this area," commented Sergey Babchinetsky, head of the New Production Technologies Laboratory of the SUAI Engineering School.
