On June 27 and 28, the XI Forum of the Regions of Belarus and Russia was held in Vitebsk, Polotsk and Novopolotsk. Students of the St. Petersburg State University of Aerospace Instrumentation took part in the event within the framework of the PSU-SUAI Summer School
SUAI took part in a thematic exhibition dedicated to the achievements of university science – the guests of the forum could get acquainted with information about the areas of study and watch a presentation video about the university. SUAI students presented two projects of the Institute of Aerospace Instruments and Systems: a model of a small CubeSat 3U spacecraft and a CubeSat 3U mock-up with a solar panel deployment and orientation system. The model, created by SUAI students and postgraduates is a detailed layout of the CubeSat 3U nanosatellite, which is as close as possible to the real ICA. Thanks to this, various laboratory experiments and tests can be carried out, and new designed systems can be debugged as part of the satellite. It is also possible to debug processes as part of an entire constellation of satellites, namely data transmission between them, recognition of position relative to each other, their mutual orientation and navigation. The model allows students to practice skills in the field of nanosatellite programming and PCB soldering. As for the layout, it is a CubeSat 3U nanosatellite equipped with a solar panel deployment system. It allows you to orient yourself towards the Sun and ensure maximum efficiency of solar panels. In addition, several solar panels can be placed on one device, which allows it to receive more energy. The batteries can be opened and their position can be changed in two axes of rotation.
Elena Gaiduk, who participates in the PSU-SUAI Summer School, presented the developments of the Institute of Aerospace Instruments and Systems at the forum:
– We presented projects at the Innovations in Higher Education: Experience and Prospects of Cooperation of the Union State section, showed the developments of the Department of Aerospace Measurement and Computing complexes - CubeSat satellites. We were lucky: at the neighboring stand developments in the same area from the Belarusian State University were presented. The Summer School program turned out to be very eventful: many lectures and workshops, mainly of a technical nature, as well as cultural events. We managed to get acquainted and exchange contacts with both teachers and students of PSU, BSU and Gorny, – said Elena Gaiduk.
The main topic of the XI Forum of the Regions of Belarus and Russia this year is the role of interregional cooperation in building an innovative economy of the Union State. The forum is organized by the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus and the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation.
