The technology being developed at SUAI will make the planes lighter and replace the co-pilot

St. Petersburg State University of Aerospace Instrumentation in cooperation with the State Scientific Research Institute of Aviation Systems scientific center (GosNIIAS) and Voronezh State University are working on an intelligent aircraft control system. In fact, we are talking about the development of an on-board distributed information computing environment (BRIVS) for optical data exchange in new generation aircraft, including supersonic civil airliners. The key innovation of the intelligent technology is that it will be able – if necessary – to replace the co-pilot. This large-scale task involves the maximum performance of the on-board network, ensuring high-speed analysis of instrument readings and making the optimal decision in a specific situation.

BRIVS is part of the work performed by the Aerospace R&D Center, created within the framework of the Priority 2030 program of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation. The SUAI team is developing it on the domestic hardware and software element base, creating and implementing new national standards for data exchange on board aircraft.
