St. Petersburg State University of Aerospace Instrumentation has risen by two positions in the ranking of universities in terms of the quality of training specialists in the field of artificial intelligence, the methodology of which has been agreed upon by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation.
Last year, SUAI held the D++ position, but this year it is on C+, having crossed the C level.
— Several important and timely steps contributed to this result: the modernization of curricula for such areas as Computer Science and Computer Engineering, an educational module on AI appeared, which included such disciplines as «Machine Learning», «Introduction to Data Analysis», «Big Data» and others. In addition, last year, the SUAI Institute of Information Technology and Programming hosted the International Conference on Applied AI: Prospects and Risks, which has now become an annual and attracted prominent scientists of the Russian Academy of Sciences, specialized teachers from other Russian cities, and IT industry specialists, said Tatiana Tatarnikova, Director of the Institute of Information Technology and Programming.
The increase in positions in the rating was also influenced by successful implementation and popularity of two new Master’s degree programs in AI: «Artificial intelligence systems» and «Design of intelligent software systems»; active participation and victories of students in AI case competitions from industrial partners; an increase in graduate qualification papers in the field of AI, most of which claim to be applied developments in the interests of employers.
