On October 9 an interuniversity meeting on technologies for collecting, processing and storing data obtained as a result of remote sensing of the Earth was held in SUAI.
An introductory lecture for future specialists in geoinformation mapping was conducted by Elena Chichkova, PhD in Geographical Sciences, Director of the CosmoInform Center of the St. Petersburg State University of Aerospace Instrumentation. An important aspect of the lecture was the description of projects implemented using sensing. Remote monitoring allows us to obtain meteorological information (temperature, humidity), determine the features of the relief and the distribution areas of certain phenomena, objects or consequences of disasters.
— Remote sensing of the Earth is a sphere of contact between exact sciences, Earth sciences, and understanding the principles of data processing. Therefore, in order to master geoinformatics, a researcher needs a broad outlook, as well as a sincere interest in his future profession and the world around him,» concluded Elena Chichkova.
