1 апреля SUAI at the International Specialized Exhibition on Photonics. The World of Lasers and Optics

From March 31 to April 2, the Moscow Expocenter hosted the international specialized exhibition of laser, optical and optoelectronic technology «Photonics.

The World of Lasers and Optics», which is a key event for the Russian laser and optical industry and has gained recognition among both Russian and international experts in the field of photonics.

Nikolay Sinev, a junior researcher at the SUAI Aerospace Research and Development Center, took part in the exhibition. He set up a stand for a deterministic optical network.

— It consists of 4 single-board domestic PCs that are connected via a router. Information about transmission and reception on each device is displayed on the monitor. In order to confirm the operation of the new standard, it must be verified. For this purpose, special implementation models for simulation and reference are written. The simulation model implements the entire protocol standard and allows you to build a network infrastructure in any way, which allows you to work out the model in various scenarios. The reference model implements only the standard stack, which is in fact a set of rules and algorithms according to which the protocol operates on a single device. In other words, this model is a reference implementation of the standard. This model is placed specifically on a Unix/Windows device and shows how the protocol works within a single device. Due to its flexibility, it can also work on top of other data transmission standards whose behavior is close to optical transmission, such as the UDP protocol,» said Nikolai Sinev.

The second development presented at the stand is the DOSRV modeling environment. It allows you to build a network with the necessary topology and protocol stack parameters to test the behavior of the model within this network structure.

Another exhibit presented in the pavilion was the DOSRV optical stand from GosNIIAS.

«This is a physical implementation of a deterministic real—time optical network consisting of 3 PCs that are optically connected via a common multiplexer and a spectral compactor developed at GosNIIAS, — explained the SUAI Aerospace Research and Development Center representative.»

Participation in the exhibition allowed the university not only to present research and development, but also to expand professional ties and strengthen its position in the scientific and educational community.
